Well in case you missed it the First Annual Jacksonville Supercross Bus tour on April 4th was a great success. After gathering in the parking lot at WMR for coffee and doughnuts we loaded the bus and left at around 9:00 am Saturday morning. The bus arrived at the Stadium just in time for the gates to open at 12:30pm. The trip went by fast as we were treated to classic motocross videos like On any Sunday and some footage from the personal collection of Lyndon Fox from back in the day. Lyndon is credited with providing much of the vintage footage shown on television’s The Motocross Files, so you know it was good stuff. It was good times hanging out with friends in the pits, checking out all the factory equipment and watching the practice sessions and qualifiers.

The atmosphere in the pits was electric as the promoter provided the best in excitement and entertainment, it truly was a great venue for a Supercross. The riders and teams were all pretty accessible and the GOAT, Ricky Carmichael was even in attendance to ride a few laps before the main event. The weather was perfect and I think it's safe to say everyone had a great time.
This race will probably go down in history as one of the best battles between James Stewart and Chad Reed ever, they battled back and forth throughout the main event trading first place several times. After Reed got the holeshot you could see James trying to be patient and waiting for the right time to make his move, then with about 8 laps to go he started changing lines and going for the pass. I think James thought he would be able to make quick work of it but Chad had a different idea and held of James for several laps making it one of the most exciting races I have ever seen. James came out the victor but Chad was on his game all night. Now this exciting season will probably be decided at the last race in Vegas. What an awesome sport, we are so lucky to have three rounds that are some what close, with Daytona, Atlanta and now Jacksonville, lets hope they keep the Jacksonville round for years to come.
We are already getting calls asking if we will be doing it again next year and the answer is yes. The Bus trip was probably the best way to see the race if you wanted to do it in one day. Even though we got back pretty late it sure beat driving yourself home or paying to get a hotel for the night.
We hope all that attended had a good time and we want to thank everyone for their continued support of the track. Progress drags on at the County, as we wait for the zoning process to be completed, you can read more about the latest on the NEWS page of this site.
